The Assiniboine Park Zoo announced that its orphaned 10‑month‑old polar bear cub has been given the name Mantayo after an online poll. The poll presented three alternative name options for the public to choose from.
The cub arrived from Churchill in August after being orphaned, prompting the zoo to invite visitors to participate in selecting its name.
The naming result reflects the outcome of the public voting process held by the zoo.
