CentrePort Canada announced an expansion of its operations in Winnipeg and said it had signed memoranda of understanding with the owner of the Port of Churchill and with a global logistics firm. The announcements come as the federal government examines a $1 billion proposal to build four food terminals and between 20 and 40 food hubs aimed at strengthening food security in the region.
The organization functions as a federal trade corridor that seeks to grow logistics, defence and industrial capacity in the province. The planned food infrastructure is intended to support the corridor’s broader goal of enhancing regional supply chains.
