On October 2, 2026, eight disability organizations in Manitoba asked the Manitoba Ombudsman to investigate the public trustee’s handling of decisions for adults with intellectual disabilities.

The groups say the public trustee, which is responsible for decision‑making on behalf of those adults, is not performing its duties adequately and is failing to make critical decisions.
