Residents and four council candidates gathered in Fort Rouge–East Fort Garry on Thursday to discuss concerns about homelessness, public safety and transit improvements.
The municipal seat became vacant after incumbent Sherri Rollins withdrew, creating a contested race that now includes four candidates, among them Kathy McKenzie.
Local voters voiced worries about a rise in homelessness, ongoing safety issues and the need for enhanced transit services within the ward.
Each candidate responded by outlining their approach to addressing the three priority areas, emphasizing the importance of community input and practical solutions.
