The Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba announced it is beginning a search for a new leader as members of the Legislative Assembly returned to the chamber for the autumn sitting in Winnipeg.
The party currently occupies 19 of the 57 seats in the assembly, fewer than the governing New Democratic Party, which holds 34 seats. The Liberals have one seat, and three independents sit, including MLA Khan. Premier Wab Kinew leads the NDP government as the PCs start their leadership contest.
