Manitoba Public Insurance announced that, beginning Oct. 1, 2026, hail‑damage estimating services will be available at every Winnipeg service centre. The expansion follows a summer marked by severe storms across southern Manitoba that left extensive hail damage on homes, vehicles and other property.
The insurer reported that more than 40,000 storm‑related claims had been opened as of Sept. 14, 2026. Those claims reflect the scale of the weather events that struck the province during the summer months, prompting a surge in demand for damage assessments and repairs.
By extending hail‑damage estimating capacity to all Winnipeg locations, the agency aims to streamline the claims process for affected residents. Customers will be able to bring in vehicles or schedule inspections at any of the city’s service centres, rather than traveling to a limited number of sites.
The move comes as part of MP Insurance’s response to the recent weather crisis, seeking to address the backlog of claims and provide faster service to policyholders. Officials indicated that the additional estimating resources are intended to meet the heightened need generated by the unprecedented number of hail incidents recorded this season.
The expanded service will be operational from the first day of October, giving residents a clear timeframe to obtain official estimates for hail damage. The insurer emphasized that the new arrangement is designed to improve accessibility and reduce waiting times for claim assessments across Winnipeg.
