Two researchers used digital photogrammetry to measure Kapakaytay Falls in northern Manitoba on Saturday morning, 26 September 2026. Their analysis placed the waterfall’s height at approximately 16 metres, a figure that exceeds the height of Kwasitchewan Falls, which has long been regarded as the province’s tallest.
The measurement was taken after the researchers completed a more than 100 kilometre canoe journey to reach the remote site. The new data suggests that Kapakaytay Falls could claim the title of Manitoba’s highest waterfall, revising the long‑standing view that Kwasitchewan Falls held that distinction.
