The Manitoba Labour Board gave its approval on Oct. 8, 2026, allowing employees of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet to unionize as a single bargaining unit under the Manitoba Government and General Employees’ Union. The new unit will be designated Local 466.
With the board’s decision, the ballet’s staff will now be collectively represented by the province’s largest public‑sector union.
