Boston City Council voted unanimously on October 1 to adopt an emergency resolution that calls on city departments to provide assistance to businesses damaged by the six‑alarm fire at the Edison building in Nubian Square.

The resolution follows a fire on Monday, September 28, 2026, that destroyed numerous local establishments. Councilor Ed Flynn and Council President Liz Breadon were among the council members supporting the measure, which seeks immediate municipal support for the affected businesses.

City departments are now directed to coordinate efforts to help the businesses recover after the blaze left the area in need of rapid assistance.
