Urban Spaces intends to file plans to replace the Commercial Wharf building, which was destroyed in a 2011 fire started by a smoker, with a four‑story boutique hotel. The proposed hotel would contain 35 to 45 rooms, a restaurant, and designate half of the parcel as open space.
The vacant lot, formerly a law office building, has remained empty since the fire. The Boston Planning Department will review the developer’s proposal.
