Cambridge city officials conducted a public lottery Monday night at City Hall, selecting 40 community members to join a civic assembly that will examine the possible reinstatement of the ShotSpotter gun‑shot detection system. Each participant will receive a payment of $1,000.
The assembly is intended to gather local input on whether to bring back the program, which the city previously discontinued, and the lottery‑based, paid format is being used in place of a direct public vote.
