An 18‑year‑old man from Burlington was taken into custody by Chelmsford police after he left a Facebook Marketplace meetup in Chelmsford with an e‑bike without paying and later attempted to sell the bike.
Police say the suspect rode away from the exchange, was later identified while trying to sell the stolen e‑bike, and was arrested at that time.
Authorities note that in‑person transactions arranged through online platforms such as Facebook Marketplace can sometimes result in theft incidents.
