A federal judge ordered restitution of $28,517 and three years of probation for Logan David Patterson, 19, and Dominick Frank Cardoza, 21, after they broke into a Harvard Medical School research building and detonated a commercial‑grade firework.

The incident took place on Nov. 1, 2025, when the two entered the closed facility, placed a large explosive device in a locker and set it off, causing damage to the laboratory.

The sentencing, delivered on Oct. 1, 2026, concludes a federal prosecution stemming from the unlawful entry and explosion at the Boston research site.
