The University of Massachusetts Lowell is inviting private developers to design and construct a new hotel and an ice rink beside the Tsongas Center. Chancellor Julie Chen said the initiative is part of a broader 1.2 million‑square‑foot campus expansion announced in early 2026.
The project is intended to further a campus transformation plan described as Lowell’s version of Kendall Square, adding mixed‑use facilities to the university’s Tsongas Center area.
