A woman became trapped beneath an inbound Red Line train at the JFK/UMass station in Boston shortly before 5 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026. She was lifted out of the train, remained conscious, and was taken to a local hospital.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority cut power on both tracks to allow emergency crews to work safely. Firefighters, paramedics, EMTs and other responders cleared the tracks and freed the woman.

Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan was present as the operation proceeded.
