Arts Alliance Illinois has asked the mayor to increase Chicago’s grantmaking budget for the arts by $15 million in the Fiscal Year 2027 budget. The request was delivered in an open letter that calls for a larger allocation to support artists and arts organizations in the city.

The appeal targets the upcoming municipal budget and seeks to expand funding for cultural programs overseen by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
