BirdCast.org issued a high bird migration alert for Chicago tonight, warning that more than 28,000 birds are expected to pass through the area overnight into Sunday.
Across the United States, the organization projects that over 800 million birds will be migrating through Sunday, with a single‑day peak of about 445 million, the largest count recorded.
The alert is part of the seasonal migration period when hundreds of millions of birds travel across North America, and BirdCast.org tracks these movements to inform residents.
