Dozens of elected officials from the Chicago area, together with utility watchdog groups, announced at a news conference in Chicago City Hall that they have sent a letter to state regulators urging a rejection of Peoples Gas’ request for a $144 million rate increase and calling for reforms to the company’s pipeline retirement program.
