City officials will ask the owner of the shuttered Ford City Mall to create a comprehensive security plan after a recent video captured dozens of people breaking into the site.
The 70‑acre mall, which has been closed for years, is owned by New York‑based Namdar.
The request will be made by the Chicago Department of Law as the city seeks to improve safety at the vacant property.
