Metra to debut first battery commuter train at LaSalle
Metra will display its first battery-powered train at LaSalle Street station in mid‑October, ahead of service on the Rock Island Beverly line slated for 2028.

Metra will showcase its inaugural battery-powered commuter train, called FLIRT, at the LaSalle Street Metra station in Chicago during the week of October 15, 2026.
The FLIRT train is planned to begin service on the Rock Island Beverly line, with passenger operations expected to start in 2028.
