Netflix began shooting a romantic‑comedy adaptation of the novel “Better Than the Movies” at Town House Books and Cafe in St. Charles, Illinois, from Oct. 3 to Oct. 9, 2026.
The production, which includes Lynn Painter, converted the shop at 105 N. 2nd Ave. into a temporary set for the duration of the filming week.
The movie follows the viral New York Times bestseller that rose to prominence on BookTok and Bookstagram, leading Netflix to produce the film.
