An off‑duty Chicago police officer, Edgar Delgado Arroyo, fired two rounds toward a street in the La Villita neighborhood, wounding at least one man. The shooting occurred over the weekend of October 5–6, 2026, while the officer was responding to a call reporting gunshots at his mother’s house.

Community leaders called for criminal charges against the officer and urged the Civilian Office of Police Accountability to investigate the incident.

The Chicago Police Department confirmed the officer was off duty at the time of the shooting.
