On Monday, an officer on Chicago's elevated 606 Bloomingdale Trail fired three shots at a man he believed was attempting to carjack a vehicle. A police misconduct review board subsequently recommended that the officer be dismissed, while a former police superintendent disagreed.
The officer involved was identified as Lt. Mike Keeney of the Chicago Police Department. He said he suspected the man of an attempted carjacking before discharging three rounds.
The misconduct review board concluded that the officer should be terminated. Former police superintendent David Brown expressed disagreement with that recommendation.
