On Saturday, teams at O'Hare International Airport moved a United Airlines 737 a short distance, generating more than $230,000 for Special Olympics Illinois.
A total of 120 teams, each with up to 20 participants, hauled the 95,000‑pound aircraft 12 feet. Every team raised at least $1,000 as part of the effort.
The event, now in its 18th year, is designed to collect donations that will support Special Olympics programming for athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout Illinois.
