On September 29, 2026, a physicist from the University of Chicago and an environmental scientist from the University of Illinois were selected as MacArthur Fellows and will receive the foundation’s unrestricted grant.
The MacArthur Fellows Program is designed to recognize individuals who exhibit exceptional creativity and a strong track record of achievement, awarding unrestricted grants each year to innovators across a wide variety of fields.
