On Oct. 20, 2026, Lauderhill Police Department officer Brian Sguros was arrested and charged with illegally taking over a deceased resident’s home and using the resident’s personal identification information.
The arrest followed a complaint from the resident’s family that led the department to open an investigation on May 27. The investigation uncovered that the officer had occupied the deceased’s home and used their ID.
