On 31 October 1926, famed escape artist Harry Houdini died from a ruptured appendix after his North American tour, which included a performance at Montreal’s Princess Theatre and a visit to the site now known as the McCord Stewart Museum. A century later, the anniversary was observed, with Sophie‑Andrée Blondin taking part in the commemoration.
Houdini’s final Canadian appearances took place in Montreal shortly before his death, marking the end of his 1926 tour across the continent. The 100‑year mark highlights the lasting interest in his career and the circumstances surrounding his fatal illness.
