A 56-year‑old man from Quebec was taken into custody by the Thunder Bay Police Service and charged with fraud after authorities say he ran a grandparent‑related scam targeting residents of Thunder Bay.

Police say the scheme involved callers convincing victims that they were sending money to help elderly relatives, then collecting the funds for themselves. The investigation began after the service received multiple reports of such phone calls.

The suspect faces charges related to the fraudulent collection of money from individuals who believed they were assisting grandparents.
