On Monday, a five‑alarm blaze ripped through a large residential‑commercial building in Montreal’s Saint‑Michel neighbourhood, prompting a massive emergency response. Around 150 firefighters worked to contain the fire and evacuate the site, which included a daycare and numerous families.
The fire forced the daycare to be evacuated and displaced roughly 30 families. Dozens of occupants were rescued from balconies as flames spread through the structure.
