On 31 October 1926, renowned escape artist Harry Houdini died from a ruptured appendix after a North American tour that brought him to Montreal. The tour included a performance at the city’s Princess Theatre and a stop at the location that later became the McCord Stewart Museum.
His appendix rupture caused his death on that date, marking exactly one hundred years since his visit to Montreal.
