A Quebec court judge authorized a judicial recount of the federal election results in the Champlain riding of the Mauricie region on October 20, 2026. The recount follows a request from the Parti Québécois after the Conservative candidate was declared winner by a margin of 191 votes.
In the October 5 election, Conservative Adriana Szalontai was announced as the victor over PQ candidate René Branchaud. The narrow margin prompted the PQ’s request for a recount, which the judge has now granted.
