On Friday, Chief Fady Dagher of the Montreal Police Service said the force will undergo a cultural overhaul and that a small fraction of officers accused of misconduct will be investigated and could face prosecution.

The effort is aimed at roughly 1% of the service's personnel who are under scrutiny for alleged wrongdoing.

The announcement comes as the SPVM has faced a rise in accusations of police misconduct, prompting the chief to pledge reforms and disciplinary action.
