The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) announced a program to replace 58 escalators across 17 metro stations by 2031. The initiative targets aging equipment that requires renewal.
The Montreal metro system currently operates 298 escalators in total. The replacement plan will address a portion of this inventory as part of the network's ongoing maintenance.
