The Société de transport de Montréal announced a multi‑year program to replace roughly 60 escalators throughout the city's metro system by 2031, with an estimated cost of C$200 million.
The upgrade will also involve repairing about one in five of the existing escalators as part of a network‑wide overhaul.
The effort aligns with the construction of new stations for the planned Blue Line extension.
