Construction crews have begun jacking up sagging floors at the former Pfizer Building in Midtown Manhattan to address two structural columns that bent in July. The floors are being raised by about 1/64th of an inch as part of the repair effort.
The work focuses on the two key columns whose deformation caused the floor sagging, with the goal of stabilizing the structure and preventing further problems. The building suffered this structural damage in July, leading to the detailed repair plan now underway.
