CBC meteorologist Colette Kennedy says the El Niño pattern expected for the 2026‑2027 season could produce a milder winter across Ontario.

She notes that El Niño is a warm Pacific Ocean phenomenon that typically raises winter temperatures. The pattern is known to shift weather conditions throughout North America, including Canada.

According to the meteorologist, the result may be a less severe cold spell for the province during the upcoming winter.
