On November 1, 2026, the governments of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, northwestern Ontario and the Northwest Territories announced that they will observe daylight saving time year‑round, ending the practice of seasonal clock changes.
The move means the five western regions will maintain daylight time throughout the entire year, eliminating the twice‑annual clock adjustments that have traditionally been used across Canada.
Parents and businesses in the affected areas will now operate on a consistent schedule without the need for spring and fall time changes.
