Washington, D.C., Oct. 23, 2026 – The District Department of Transportation announced it will levy fines against e‑bike and scooter operators that do not move devices left in improper locations.
The fines target companies that have left devices in places not designated for shared micromobility, a practice the department says violates its regulations.
In addition, the department said its Low‑income Customer Program will shift to a monthly credit system, providing regular credits to eligible low‑income riders.
DDOT oversees shared micromobility services in the District and administers assistance for low‑income customers.
