On October 23, 2026, at about 4:50 p.m., officers from the Hagerstown Police Department opened fire on a man inside a burning apartment on Randolph Avenue, killing him.
Firefighters from the Hagerstown Fire Department arrived at the blaze, located the individual inside the unit and requested police assistance. After police officers arrived, the man was shot and died. The incident is being examined by the Maryland Attorney General’s Office.
