On Oct. 22, 2026, three veterans, a retired architectural historian and U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan filed a request for an injunction to halt construction of a triumphal arch along the Potomac River.

The filing seeks to prevent the Trump administration from beginning the arch project as scheduled on Nov. 5, 2026.

The National Park Service announced it would commence work on the arch on that date, prompting the lawsuit.
