The Service Employees International Union's Local 73 and Local 1, together representing roughly 50,000 employees, have formally endorsed Alexi Giannoulias in the Chicago mayoral contest, ending their previous support for incumbent Mayor Brandon Johnson.
The endorsement arrives as Mayor Johnson campaigns for a second term and comes amid ongoing division within the city’s teachers union.
