The Société de transport de Montréal announced a program to replace roughly sixty escalators across its subway network and to repair one out of every five existing escalators by 2031, with the work budgeted at $200 million.
The effort is part of a wider upgrade of metro infrastructure that also includes work connected to the planned extension of the Blue line.
