The Société de transport de Montréal announced a multi‑year program to replace roughly sixty escalators across its subway network, targeting repair of one out of every five escalators by 2031.
The initiative is funded at about $200 million and includes work that will support the forthcoming Blue line extension.
The escalator upgrades are part of broader improvements linked to the upcoming Blue line project.
