The decision was disclosed in Toronto, Ontario, where the college’s jewellery training has long served as a primary source of skilled workers for the Canadian jewellery sector. Professionals in the industry have expressed concerns about the suspension.
Kesha Frank of FTJCo Fine Jewellery, a stakeholder in the field, noted that the halt raises questions for those who rely on the program for talent development.
The college indicated that the restructuring effort aims to strengthen the programme’s future offerings.
