On Oct. 7, 2026, the Ontario provincial government halted OSAP loan payments for students attending career‑focused colleges after the minister responsible for OSAP warned of possible criminal activity involving the program at some of those institutions.
OSAP normally provides financial assistance to postsecondary learners, and the suspension now affects students enrolled in career colleges across the province.
The association representing Ontario’s career colleges has asked the government to restore the funding.
