Power was restored early Thursday after an outage left more than 30,000 customers in Toronto’s east end without electricity. The loss began around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, and affected the area bounded by Lawrence Street to the north and Woodbine Avenue to the east.
Toronto Hydro identified the cause as a loss of supply from Hydro One. The interruption disrupted service for residential and commercial customers throughout the specified east‑end neighbourhood. Both utilities worked through the night to locate the fault and re‑establish the flow of electricity.
By the following morning, crews from Toronto Hydro and Hydro One had restored power to the affected locations. The utilities confirmed that service was fully back online, and customers were able to resume normal activities. No further incidents were reported in the area after the restoration.
