Toronto Police Service confirmed that two men died early Saturday morning after their vehicle struck a traffic light pole in North York, causing the pole to collapse.
The incident occurred on September 5, 2026, when a single‑vehicle collision sent the car into the traffic signal structure. The impact was sufficient to topple the pole, and both occupants of the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers arrived at the location overnight and found the pole lying on the roadway beside the wrecked vehicle. Emergency responders worked to secure the area and to identify the deceased, who were both male.
